Family. . .Another Word for Home

The media has corrupted what a real family needs to be like and the importance of the family in todays society. From televison shows and movies, marriage is no longer considered necessary but rather another form of bondage. It is much easier to have several different partners with no real commitment, than to fall in love, get married and have all the responsiblites of a family. However having a family is not so much an irksome responsibility but an everlasting joy.
The next best thing about marriage is children. Children bring light, laughter and meaning into a family, they complete it. Watching children grow through life and seeing the good people they will become, give mothers and fathers a feeling of success and happiness. To have love within the family it needs to start at home.
When a family bonds together and works together that family will stick together through all sorts of storms. Yes I said storms. Bringing up a family is no walk in the park. It takes work, compassion, paitence and love. All this must begin in the home and continue in the home. Make it a haven from the rest of the world, a place where your spouse or children can come for rest and reassurance. Love your children, love your spouse and you will have love in your home. A home is just a house without love and laughter.
Do not be afraid of down times rather look at them as a learning experience. Always remember the good things that they might bring you joy. Someday down the road your family will all be sitting together after every one has grown and you will sit and reminisce about all the wonderful memories and laugh at the silly mistakes that were made and smile at the growth those mistakes made in your lives.
Life is grand but sharing it with people you love (your family) in a place where you can feel that love (your home) makes it even grander.

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)I absolutely loved this article! This young woman has so much knowledge about family life and other issues. After I read her article I wanted to be a little kinder to my children, a little more encouraging for my husband and be more active with my family. I never really thought about it before but happiness does come from the heart into the home and from the home into the rest of the world. I She may be eighteen years old but her heart and mind have many years on them! LeAndra if you are reading this comment thank you so much for standing up for issues ignored in society! p.s. I have a question for a new article, I have two teenage daughters who I rarely see because they are always out with friends or doing sports. How can get a time where they can be my girls for at least one or two days of the week? I want to have a better relationship with them without thrashing their social life. Again thank you so much- Grateful Mom
